Pitch/presentation - teacher feedback

After presenting, and receiving teacher feedback, there were a few key points that needed addressing.
  • Lighting/ Mise-en-scene - the setup of the opening sequence must convey the atmosphere and feel of the genre and the film.
If we take a look at some of our storyboard photos where we tried to take this into account, the lighting is quite dim, and though this might portray the enigma of the scene, it may be difficult to film in such conditions. The glare off the walls may also interfere as it causes white patches behind the action, therefore distracting the eye.

  • Sound - the effects we might need e.g. gunshot/silencer, scuffle/fight scene noise, gun melee across face.
Sounddogs.com provides many melee sound effects, however the effect we wish to achieve (according to our wonderful media technician) may sound best if we layer a number of them.
  • Male representation - With 3 female characters (as pictured above), the core target audience is catered for, but maybe restricts the audience reach slightly. Therefore adding more male representation may broaden the audience to the secondary audience as well.
As a group, we decided to experiment with the lighting, using a reflector and sometimes the white ceiling of our shooting location to avoid glare and keep the lighting low-key suited to the atmosphere we're trying to create.

As for sound, Youtube also provides some sound effects which we may layer and experiment with.

Where previously we considered the female representation more so than the male for example the Guard, now we are taking into account the roles of males in our film and also the opening sequence. 26 is not a film about female supremacy, therefore following our teacher's advice, we decided that 26 would have a significant male role later, perhaps in the form of another agent who joins the trio in their mission.
